Conad and Finiper (Iper and Unes) form an alliance

Conad and Finiper share their common knowledge and skills for development and the creation of affordability for customers and to safeguard domestic food supply chain excellence.

Together the two groups generate a turnover of 14.1 billion euros with a market share in large-scale distribution of 14.2%.

The agreement will last for five years with automatic renewal for an additional five. In one fell swoop the two groups go beyond the buying group approach and focus on the specificity of distribution.

At the heart of the agreement are their respective strengths: for Conad private label products – a quarter of sales, the same quality as leading products but at a price of 30% less – and presence in all provinces in Italy as well as abroad through the partners of Core (the Belgian Colruyt, the Swiss Coop and the German Rewe stores); for Finiper the large non-food sector represented by the U2 hypermarkets and stores, which invented a new formula combining the affordability of hard discount stores with supermarket quality.

Joint collaboration will be developed in non-food to exchange the respective knowledge in services and range, with particular attention to hypermarkets. In addition, strategies will be developed to promote the brand of the distributor, making recourse to advanced logistics and authentically Italian products. These activities will also involve appropriate cooperation in the negotiation phase in order to develop new products with domestic and international suppliers and improve the quality of services offered to customers. A precondition for launching new projects in logistics and segments with the highest degree of innovation such as delicatessen, fish and cold cuts.
