Sipo takes international buyers in the field

SIPO visita guidata clienti esteriIt all starts from the field to finally reach the table: that’s why Sipo, a Romagna company operating in the fresh and ready to use fruit and vegetables market took the opportunity of the Macfrut event to involve buyers and importers of large-scale distribution from around the world in a “technical visit in the field”. Taking advantage of the proximity to the fair, the group of foreign buyers from Japan, Hungary, Poland, Austria, Germany and the UK was accompanied on a visit to the over 45 hectares of lettuce, endive, cabbage, fennel, black cabbage, Chinese cabbage, head cabbage, celery, chicory and various varieties of pumpkins. A kind of “open-air exhibition stand”, where Sipo managers were able to highlight product characteristics and cultivation techniques.

“We have started an internationalisation process that has taken us to several countries in North-East Europe and, more generally, in all those areas characterised by high purchasing power and adverse weather conditions for agricultural production” said Massimiliano Ceccarini, SIPO Development Manager.

The interest in foreign markets will not stop with the export of products: the company is in fact also planning to “export” crops. Tests have already started for the production of cauliflower, rocket and celery in Serbia in the countryside near Belgrade. Objective: start local production of leaf vegetables with on-site processing, to then set up a production and sales branch in the former Yugoslav country.
