With YouBeep scanning and checkout is done with an App

Among the many check-out systems sent to the tills, this proposal by a Portuguese start-up, YouBeep, adopted in Portugal by Lidl and Pingo Doce, seems interesting.

Fast check-out has technically been available for many years, and is one of the services most requested by customers today, increasingly less willing to spend time queuing in front of the check-outs. The advantage of YouBeep, which uses a QR code to scan the products purchased, is simplicity. It is activated by downloading the App, registering again via QR code on entering the store, which then allows you to shop and submit the final bill from your smartphone at the checkout, without having to use the store devices, and in a faster way (three times, say the company) compared to an average check-out till. This on the customer side, while on the retailer side it provides much lower costs than an internal system and speed of deployment: no hardware, only a small box to be connected to each standard till.

“Among other things, it has been found that, knowing the amount as you shop, the consumer tends to fill the trolley 8/10% more because, psychologically, he knows exactly how much he will spend, otherwise he tends to buy less out of fear of spending too much” explains David Sobrinho of Xhockware, the company that developed the App, which also obtained an EU contribution.

The app is able to integrate loyalty systems, the store locator, shopping lists, any digital coupons and promotions, and also interactions with social media.
